Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

President Lincoln penned these words in the middle of the civil war. While Thanksgiving had been celebrated for sometime and by other presidents, in the midst of division President Lincoln drew the American hearts towards giving thanks for the many blessings given during divisive times.

Here is an excerpt:

“The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature that they cannot fail to penetrate and even soften the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God.”

I admire his leadership and heart. I enjoyed reading this in light of what seems like divisive times currently. I thought you might as well.

I hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving. May God bless you.
